TURBUD #32015

On April, I went to Bali with SMAN 3 Bandung 2015. First of all, we took the train to get there. We gathered at Kebon Kawung Train Station around 5.30pm. When i got there, I put my carriage where my friends from xi ipa 4 stand. We waited until 7.50pm to get in to the train and then we went at 8pm. I sat with Ella by my side, Meira and Della in front of us so we could talk more comfortable. After a while, we ate fried rice. By the way, i dont really like eating in the running-train. After that, i talked about anything with my friends because i couldn’t sleep until 1 a.m. Ella and I visited other rail and met Amaania. We took a photo in the train. It was just a little bit weird but I didn’t care.

The next day, we arrived at Gubeng Train Station in Surabaya safely. We brought our carriage and got in the bus. As always, i sat with Ella. We went to Pelabuhan Ketapang. After a while we stopped at the restaurant for pray and lunch, and some took a bath. I just changed my clothes because i was too lazy to take a bath HEHEHE. Then we continued our trip, I was so tired but there was one condition that made my trip soooooooooo beautiful. After a long time, we arrived at Pelabuhan Ketapang. The weather just made me a little bit annoyed because it was so hot I can’t even imagine. I can’t see the sea because it was dark, whereas this was my first time to take the ferry. When we arrived at Pelabuhan Gilimanuk, we got in to the bus again and continued my-beloved-trip. Finally, after such a long trip we could have some rest at Nirmala Hotel. My roommate were Ella, Lovi, and Rheina, we slept on room 303. Before we went to sleep, we delivery some food from McD because I was so hungry. Then, we slept at 2a.m.

On the third day-the first day in Bali- we went to Tanjung Benoa. Our bus got some AC broken so we should took other bus and finally Ella, Rheina, and I were stranded in bus 7. We met Puput and took some photos.
It didn’t take a long time to reach Tanjung Benoa. Tanjung Benoa is famous for its watersport. I planned not to take the watersport because I didn’t bring another clothes, except my turbud clothes. So we went to Pulau Penyu by boat and I like it. We just took some pictures at the beach.
After that, we got interesting in parasailing but we were running out of time, so we changed parasailing with donut. I was dissapointed, but I tried to enjoy the watersport. My jeans got wet and luckily I didn’t bring another jeans. Anyway, I had to change my clothes into turbud clothes. And then we had another-not-delicious-lunch in Tanjung Benoa.

The second place was Garuda Wisnu Kencana.

We had some games there. Fortunately, my class won this game. I just wondered how and why......... because when i was there i just had a walk and took some pictures. So, thanks to my friends for making our class won this game hahaha. At 6 p.m we went to amphitheater to watch Kecak Dance. It was amazing, but I was really tired. I just want this show end as soon as possible, so i could go to bus and sleep.
After that, we went to Jimbaran to have dinner with beach as a background. Jimbaran has a nice view. We had some karaoke and beach party, we had so much fun there.

On the fourth day, we went to Desa Adat Penglipuran. This place was so nice and clean and people there was so kind. We had a game called “selfie”. We had to take a picture in this place and post it to instagram. Some of my friends took this game, meanwhile I bought a cheap and delicious food that I forgot its name. I also took some pictures there, but I didn’t mean to post it to instagram hehe.
We didn’t have many times in there and continued our trip to Kintamani to have lunch. Finally there was a place in Bali that have a cold weather. Actually it was not cold, but colder than other place. And, also, finally, we had a better foods. After lunch, we went to Pasar Sukowati but people didn’t really interested with this place. We got to the hotel and prepared for Malam Keakraban. Makrab started at 6.45p.m. The theme of makrab is beachy so we should wear clothes like when we were at beach, like floral.
We watched our friend’s performance and we also had #32015’s award. We watched video angkatan, but when it was being played i was just so sleepy and wanna go to bed soon. But totally, I enjoyed this video. Finally, we went to our bedroom. Before sleep, we delivery McD for the second time because sorry-not-sorry I need some delicious foods.

The next day was the last day we were in Bali. We went to Pandawa Beach, but on the road our bus had a little accident(after the broken AC), so we should move to another bus(again). But it didn’t take to long to get there.
The panorama of Pandawa beach was soooooo beautiful, I really like it. We had “Dewa Athena Beach Edition”. We won Tarik Tambang game and it was so fun. My friends and I took a lot of pictures there because the scene was so good.
After that, we went to Khrisna to have lunch and bought some souvenirs for my family. I didn’t buy many souvenirs due to my luggage weight. We should wait for a long time before we got to Ngurah Rai International Airport. We got the second flight with Air Asia Airline. After 1 hour 40 minutes, finally we arrived at Husein Sastranegara Airport. I had ton-of-fun!

Question

The Paper Boy

A clump of hair smacked across Colin's face. The wind even tried wrestling him to the ground. Instead of newspapers, it felt as if Colin’s news-bag was full of Nova Scotia potatoes.
Maybe it had to do with the news dad read before Colin left the house. The morning headlines were full of the usual sad stories.
"For goodness sakes," dad said. "No good news again!"
CAR ACCIDENTS! HOUSE BURNS! STORM DAMAGE!
Colin wished he could have been able to cheer up dad. He moved quickly from house to house leaving papers on the porch or in the mailbox.
It helped being the fastest runner in the school and even wearing his new running shoes.
Right now Colin wished he could bring only good news to his family, also to his friendly neighbors. "There's that paper boy bringing sad news again," they were probably saying.
"How could he make things better for everyone?" he wondered as he continued to deliver his papers.
He met Nathan near Victoria Park. Colin really liked Nathan, even if his words sometimes got mixed up.
Someone told him Nathan was mentally challenged. But Colin didn't care. Nathan was his friend.
Colin noticed Alice coming. She was in his class. She only had one real eye. The other was made of glass. He liked Alice even if people called her, "Bionic lady," behind her back.
He didn't realize how much It helped her, having a friend like Colin.
The dog down the street barked loudly. Prince was lonely tied to his chain and Colin knew all he needed was a good friend. He always liked to pat the dog's head.
Prince's breath was warm as he licked Colin's hand.
"It's okay boy," he told the dog.
Each time Colin left a paper by a customer's door he felt bad, such sad news. How could he make some good news? He thought about it a lot, as he made his rounds.
Colin gave his usual cheerful "Hi" to everyone on his route. Adults and children on both sides of the street yelled and waved back.
His smile was like the rising sun.
Someone was crying and he ran to where a little boy had fallen and hurt his leg. Colin calmed him down until the boy's mother arrived.
"I'm glad you're my paperboy," she told Colin.
He continued on his route, still ten more customers to go. But, he didn't feel tired. It was fun doing what he usually did, helping others.
Now, let's see. What else could he do to cheer up people?
His best friend Donna came by to pick up her paper. It saved him from going all the way to the second floor.
It was her way of saying ‘thanks’ for giving her a chance to earn money, helping him on Saturdays. She was saving money for Christmas presents.
Besides, he liked Donna a lot.
Mr. Weatherby was such a grouch but Colin didn't mind. His car was not working, again. And Mr. Weatherby's lawn was all grown up, again.
Colin would come later and cut the grass. No charge, again.
He raced up the street to his last customer. Colin had quite a bit of energy left, as he bounded up the stairs. Mrs. Williams saw him coming and had her usual snack waiting.
She wondered why such a lively boy always had time to chat with an old lady.
Lemonade and his favorite peanut butter cookies were a neat treat. After all, she had told him many times he was her favorite paperboy.
His own treat for his customers came from his little boy's heart. Colin was so full of joy, and it made him many friends.
Everyone looked forward to his daily trips with the newspaper, even if some of the news was sad.
There were customers from all over. Some even came from China and Africa. Others had thick, wavy hair and some, no hair.
Colin didn't mind. He liked them all.
Some of his customers were fat, others skinny. And some had customs and clothes, which were different. But it didn't matter to Colin.
He liked them all.
Colin did have much good news to share, even if he didn't realize it. His smile and polite manners brought cheering-up news to all his customers.
Yes, Colin was a very special paperboy.

Inspiring Story : Potatoes, Eggs, and Coffee Beans

Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn’t know how she was going to make it. She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed.
Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot, and ground coffee beans in the third pot. He then let them sit and boil, without saying a word to his daughter. The daughter, moaned and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing.
After twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He took the potatoes out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.
He then ladled the coffee out and placed it in a cup. Turning to her he asked. “Daughter, what do you see?”
“Potatoes, eggs, and coffee,” she hastily replied.
“Look closer,” he said, “and touch the potatoes.” She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face.
“Father, what does this mean?” she asked.
He then explained that the potatoes, the eggs and coffee beans had each faced the same adversity– the boiling water. However, each one reacted differently. The potato went in strong, hard, and unrelenting, but in boiling water, it became soft and weak. The egg was fragile, with the thin outer shell protecting its liquid interior until it was put in the boiling water. Then the inside of the egg became hard. However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were exposed to the boiling water, they changed the water and created something new.

“Which are you,” he asked his daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean? “

Mirror Mirror - Synopsis

The Queen begins by telling us the story of Snow Whites birth. Her mother died. She was spoiled, and the kingdom was a very happy place. Her father was grooming her for the kingdom, when he met the Queen. They got married, but he had to go away. He gave Snow his dagger, and rode off into the woods, and was never seen again. Snow White searched for him, but he wasnt found. Now she is at the mercy of the Queen. Ten years after the King vanished in the Dark Woods without a trace, Snow White never left the castle.

One day, one servant named Brighton steps forward to tell her that the kingdom is close to being destitute. Snow White comes downstairs, from the bedroom she seems to live in, to ask the Queen if she can attend the gala since it is her 18th birthday. The servants help Snow White celebrate her 18th birthday. One woman, Baker Margaret, speaks up, telling her that she knows she will one day take back the kingdom, which is why she has stuck around all those years. She gives Snow White the dagger she received from her father all those years ago as a gift. Snow White decides she is going to leave the castle.

While walking in the snowy woods, Snow White comes across the two men, who are hanging upside down from a tree. They are Prince Alcott and his friend. She decides to release them. It almost seems to be love at first sight for her but he declines the offer to travel with them. Snow White is wandering in the streets of the village where she sees children and adults begging for food and money. Brighton comes into town and puts up a notice that there is to be more tax collection. Snow returns very upset, telling Baker Margaret how horrible everything has become for the people.

All of a sudden we hear those famous words spoken by the Queen Mirror Mirror on the wall except the difference is, she walks into it. When she comes out she is in a new place in another dimention where she is in a small hut on a vast lake. She talks to another version of herself in the mirror, discussing marrying the Baron.

Back at the palace, the Queen is interrupted by Prince Alcott. The Queen has never heard of his kingdom before and organizes a ball very quickly to impress him. Her plan is to marry the prince, however, she is reminded by Brighton that they have no money to pay for it. She doesnt care that people are starving however and does whatever it takes to throw the ball.

That evening, the costume ball begins. Snow White crashes the ball dressed as a white swan where is surprised to see the prince, and he is also surprised to see her. They dance together, all the while being watched by the Queen. The Queen corners Snow White, questioning her as to where she got the dress, while Snow yells at her about the conditions in the village. Snow White stands up for herself, saying she is the rightful leader of the kingdom. The Queen later tells Brighton she wants Snow White killed, and to take her to the woods and feed her to the beast.

Still in her white swan dress, Brighton has now brought Snow White to the woods. Brighton, in appreciation still of how her father treated him so kindly, cuts loose the ropes tying her hands together and tells her to run. She runs through the woods. She wakes up inside the house of the 7 dwarfs. She tells them that she is Snow White, however not all of them believe her. She tells them that she has no gold for them, and explains how the Queen tried to have her killed. They are reluctant to let her stay, as they could be killed for it. They decide to let her stay for one night.

The dwarfs tell Snow White she can stay with them, but must live by certain rules. She must become a thief, and Snow White agrees as long as what they steal from the Queen goes back to the people. They begin to teach her all their tricks, including how to sword fight and use their costumes. Over the next few days, she quickly learns their ways and trains well to be a thief with them.

The Queen knows that Snow White has not died, upset, once again goes through her mirror into her hut in the alternate reality. She tells the mirror she wants Snow White dead and she wants to marry the prince.

At the house of the dwarfs, they reveal that they heard the Queen is marrying the prince, meanwhile the prince is under spell by the Queen. Snow is upset . The next morning, the Queen and Alcott prepare for their wedding. Snow White and the dwarfs decides to crash the wedding. They steal Prince Alcott. They try to break that spell by a kiss from Snow White, and it works. Suddenly they hear the roar of the beast and Snow White leaves to fight it herself. But Alcott and the dwarfs try to help Snow White. Meanwhile, the Queen goes back through the mirror, very giddy, thinking they will die. The dwarfs manage to get Snow Whites dagger to her, but instead of killing the beast, she grabs the celestial necklace from it. The Queen notices that hers no longer has powers and the mirror tells her now she will see the price for using magic, and she grows old.

Suddenly the beast disappears and turns into Snow Whites father... The King. Snow White is thrilled, and the King doesnt understand how she has grown up. She tells him he has been under a spell and introduces him to everyone. He asks Alcott how he can ever repay him, which is of course giving him Snow Whites hand in marriage.

Waterspouts

Waterspouts are tornadoes over water. But scientific work over the last 30 or so years has led to a more complicated picture with waterspouts differing in some ways from tornadoes over land, especially large ones. Waterspouts and all the different kinds of tornadoes have a similar basic structure with air moving upward. At the ground or ocean surface, winds are rushing faster and faster as they swirl into the vortex and then upward. Often with both tornadoes and waterspouts, the vortex is seen coming down from the cloud, but not obviously touching the ground or ocean. Such vortices that don't seem to touch the ground are called "funnels" or "funnel clouds." It's important to say "seems" not to touch because often, especially in the beginning, the vortex is invisible along part of its path. We begin to see the vortex when its lower air pressure cools the air enough to condense water vapor in the air into tiny water droplets.

How waterspouts form
1.      The first sign, which can be seen from the air but usually not from a boat, is the formation of a dark spot on the ocean. Smoke flares dropped in these areas show the air is moving in a circle and upward. Many dark spots die out without progressing any further. But some begin to take on a spiral pattern of dark and lighter water.
2.    At this second stage someone on a boat at the surface would probably feel the wind shift and maybe increase. Also, if you looked upward, you might see a funnel coming from a cloud overhead or off to one side.
3.       People on boats will see the third stage. Even though it might be invisible, a vortex is reaching the ocean surface from the cloud. When the wind speeds reach around 40 mph, the wind begins to kick up spray in a circular pattern — the spray vortex. At this time you might see the funnel pointing down from the cloud toward the ring.
4.     The fourth, or mature, stage is when the funnel reaches all the way from the cloud to the ocean. You can usually see through the funnel - it's really a thin cloud of tiny water droplets. During this stage, small waves are being kicked up and the spout leaves a bubbly wake behind as it moves across the ocean. These tiny bubbles could be carbon dioxide and other gases that are dissolved in the water that are caused to effervesce by the low air pressure in the spout's center - like a bottle of soda that's just opened.
5.      In the fifth, and final stage, the spray vortex weakens and the funnel becomes shorter and maybe more tapered. It often twists around and the bottom of the waterspout may move out from under the cloud.

Where waterspouts are most likely

"Waterspouts probably occur more frequently in the Florida Keys than anywhere in the world." Waters around the Keys, especially from Marathon past Key West on westward to the Dry Tortugas, probably see 400 or 500 waterspouts a year. Since they are so common, most go unreported unless they cause damage. So many waterspouts hit the Florida Keys because the weather and geography supply two necessary ingredients. First, the islands and the shallow water along them help heat the air. During the summer, waterspout season, the air is extremely humid with temperatures in the mid-80s into the low 90s. The heat causes the air to rise. As it rises, the air's humidity condenses into the tiny water droplets that make up clouds. As water vapor condenses, it releases more heat that makes the air rise even faster. Rising air currents are needed for waterspout formation. The second important waterspout ingredient in the Keys seems to be the regular east or northeast "trade winds" that blow right down the islands. These winds help line up the clouds. Lines of clouds encourage waterspouts.

My Last Holiday

Hi everyone, I’d like to tell you about my last holiday. I spent my holiday in Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. I went there with my mother and my sister. My father didnt go with us because he just had 3 days off. I didnt take off in Bandung, so on December 27 I went to Soekarno Hatta International Airport. First of all, I went to Singapore.

On my first day in Singapore I spent my time at Universal Studios. I didnt take so many ride because a lot of people was here. The ride that I like so much is the revenge of a mummy, it was just too amazing and fun. After wasting many times at Universal  Studios, I went to Hershey’s to buy some chocolates. At 8 pm, I watched Song Of The Sea. The view is just so beautiful but I didnt take any photo there. It was kind of short film with a firework as a closing.

Second day, I went to Garden by the bay, it was a forest-but-garden-like in the middle of the country. There is a fake waterfall there. And then I went to Merlion and took a photo there. After that, I went to Orchard street and shopping for some hours. I bought an ice cream which called “es potong” by an Indonesian. It just 1$ for one ice cream. I bought it for like three times because I think the weather is a little bit hot.

On the third day, I went to Thailand. I went to Tang Kuan Hilltop. And I went to Songkhla Beach. The thing that I like from Thailand is the food, Tom Yam. It was so delicious.

After Thailand, I went to Malaysia. I spent my new years eve at Bukit Bintang. But I went to hotel at 11 pm because I was just really tired. The next day, I went to Istana Negara then to Dataran Merdeka, and Twin Tower. On the next day, I went to Genting Highland. First we went by a bus, but we had to stop and going there by a skyway, i think it was just a little bit scary. The weather is soooooo cold that I only wanted to do is sleeping with a warm blanket. But at least I went window shopping and bought some things for my father. On the last day, I went to Batu Cave and Putrajaya. Putrajaya is so beautiful. The view was amazing and the mosque was so good.

On January 2, I went home to Indonesia.
